The Asia Pacific market for office furniture (Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam) is estimated by CSIL at US$ 7 billion in 2013. Over the last decade, the Region grew at 4% yearly average, both in terms of production and consumption.
Around 11% of the market is currently satisfied by imported office furniture. The openness of the market is progressively increasing as imports expanded by +10% in average over the past ten years. Imports penetration is higher in Singapore and Australia. In terms of values Japan and Australia are the leading importers, importing US$ 300 million and US$ 185 million of office furniture respectively.
China (providing about 60% of total imports), Taiwan and Malaysia are the largest office furniture suppliers for the region. About 10% came from Europe.
In 2014 Asia Pacific is expected to remain the fastest increasing market worldwide.
